Better Practice Health PromotionBetter Practice Health Promotion Services is currently contracting for new projects in the health, business, government and community sectors for the remainder of 2008 into 2009.  Our areas of expertise include:  

·         Community Development, Consultation and Engagement

·         Access and Community Inclusion

·         Working with special, at risk and hard to reach populations

·         Facilitation, Training and Development

·         Health Copywriting and Resource development

·         Health Promotion Project Development and Management

·         Accessible and Inclusive Event management

·         Media Relations 

Over the previous 2 years Better Practice has been engaged in a variety of projects and enjoyed working closely with a number of organisations with successful outcomes. Some of our major projects include: 

·         HealthRight (UWA, Department of Health, Healthway): Development and coordination of a comprehensive 2 year health promotion campaign for people who live with mental illness. Including formative research and community consultation; Securing of Healthway funding; Art Competition; Media Relations; Development of Creative Project resources and website; Mental Health Awareness Training; Life Skills Training; Capacity Building and Policy Development.

·         You’re Welcome Project (Disability Services Commission & City of Swan, WALGA): Gathering Access information from businesses and services in the City of Swan. Project co-ordination, volunteer recruitment and management, report writing, media liaison and organisation of an awards presentation.

·         Health Promotion Toolkit for Community Health Nurses (ECU): Research and develop a Health Promotion Tool Kit based on popular theory and practice and our own practical application and experience. Facilitation of Workshop with Community Health Nurses to evaluate Tool Kit

·         Ability  Aware Training Recreation & Sport Network (5 Local Governments): Development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of Inclusion Training and Resources for Sport and Recreation Groups; included the engagement of people with disabilities to co-facilitate

·         UWA Dental Outcomes Project ( UWA, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences): Gather and analyse information to develop education outcomes for years 2-5 Dentistry Courses.

·         Shared Paths Survey (DPI): Research project, including the development of a pre and post survey of a busy shared coastal path to test effectiveness of path marking in reducing perception and experience of conflict between pedestrians and cyclists. Report, Recommendations and presentation of key findings.
